Powder Coating Metal

The powder coating process is mainly used in powder coating metal such as "white goods", aluminium extrusions, and automobile and motorcycle parts. Virtually any metal surface can be powder coated. There are over 6,500 colors and textures available.

Powdercoating: Better than Painting Metal

There are several advantages of powder coating over painting. Powder coating:

  1. Emits zero or near zero volatile organic compounds (VOC).
  2. Can produce thicker coatings than paint without running or sagging.
  3. Overspray can be recycled, reducing waste.
  4. Produces less hazardous waste than painting.
  5. Items generally have less difference in the finish between horizontally coated surfaces and vertically coated surfaces than painted items.
  6. A wide range of specialty effects is easily accomplished which would be impossible to achieve with other coating processes.

Powder Coating Aluminum

It is also possible to powder coat aluminum. In fact, many metal railings and banisters are made from extruded aluminum. they can be powder coated with colors and textures that resemble other metals like brass, bronze and steel.
